After Permian, I attended Texas Tech, where I graduated with a degree in finance in 1985. Ok, I admit it ... I wanted an education in money. I've grown up since then.

I worked at a large Houston bank for 2 years where I was first exposed to lawyers. I knew, ever since my freshman year in college, that I eventually wanted to return to law school. So, in 1987, I enrolled in the University of Texas School of Law. After graduating in 1990, I started working for a large Houston law firm, where I work even today (now quite a bit bigger after a couple of law firm mergers), although I had a detour or two along the way with a solo practice and an Atlanta/DC based law firm. I practice environmental law, and I love my job. And to anticipate the question ... no ... I don't hug my trees. I usually represent the companies trying to comply with the law.

I married a lovely woman after Tech, and although we aren't currently married, she and I shared the blessing of two wonderful daughters. I feel privileged to be their father. One attended Texas State, studying psychology, and the other is a freshman in Baylor, where she is studying secondary math education.

Now, as an empty nester, I enjoy the company of friends, and am experiencing a few things in life that I may not have been able to enjoy over the years, including travel. Big trips this years were to Costa Rica and Italy.

I am something of a recent convert to the social networking scene, and I have to say I get a kick out of making contact with people I haven't seen in years. I guess nostalgia runs deep.

I wish good things for all of you fellow 1981 Permian graduates. Feel free to drop me a line sometime.

Jerry

My daughter Sarah ... undoubtedly trying to use the remote control on me.

My daughter Rachel, with that typical "Dad, I really wish you wouldn't" smile.
