I was friends with Sam since I met him in 2nd grade at Regan elementary. He was one of the most vocationally talented people I have ever known. Even after losing his arm because of cancer he could golf, play pool, work on his hot rod, and ride dirt bikes better than just about anybody I knew. I lived with him for a year after school and then we moved on with our lives and lost touch. The last time I saw him was at our 10 year reunion.

Rest in peace my friend.

There's so much I could say about Sam. We knew each other basically our whole lives. We lived 2 houses from each other growing up, went to Elementary, Jr. High and of course Permian together. He was my brother (since I didn't have one). We went thru everything together, his cancer in Jr. High, many good times and also got in trouble together alot! I never lost touch with him even after moving to DFW. I always made time to go see him, which usually meant we got into some kind of trouble. I will always miss him and he can never be replaced. I know he is resting in peace.

I met Sam in 7th grade science at Nimitz - he was my lab partner.  Sam had a determination that could not be matched or for that fact bridled.  Throughout Jr High and High School, Sam taught me a lot about living, laughing and partying.  We roomed together for a year at Tech until he decided he could no longer curb his enthusiasm for going back and working in the oil patch and being around the people and lifestyle he so loved.  After college we stayed in touch and whenever I made it back to Odessa, I'd always made a point to stop by "Nana's" house.  My last time with Sam was at our 10 year reunion.  A few of us went together with Sam and his wife Rachel and then we all left to play poker and drink cold beer at his house.  Sam had many, many friends from different periods of his life, most I never really knew.  I am thankful that I got to be one.  I think of you often, my friend!
