Scott Smith was part of a small cadre of friends that lived near each other around the old Burnett Elementary School. We were all friends together for several years before graduating, but as so often happens, we lost contact afterward. The next thing that I heard of him years later was that he had died in an oilfield accident. I was very sorry to hear of his death as it is the first from our little group. Rest in peace, my friend.

Scott and I were best of friends all thru Burnet, Hood, and Permian. Inseparable, from bike rides to ball games to chasing (trying at least) girls. We went our own ways not too long after Permian. It was a shock to my system when I was in Corpus Christi working and recieved the news of his untimely death. Due to work committments, I could not attend his funeral. I did hear from my other good friend at the time, Brian Bosse, that Scott looked peaceful. Knowing him at the time, I cannot help but believe that he looked down and only wished for his wife and child to be taken care of, because that was the sole reason he lived - for them. I am fortunate to have known Scott. I will always treasure his friendship. Danny
