I had a nice long visit with Jerry at his home in Amarillo just before his death.  He was under oxygen the whole time because he  was in the final stages of emphysema.  He said, "40 yrs. of smoking finally caught up with me."  He told me of his many exploits as a deputy sherrif in Amarillo and we relived our OHS days.  Soon thereafter I learned of his death.
