Sandra Sue Horton, (nee: Etheredge) of Saint Peters, MO, passed away on Thursday, September 6, 2018, at the age of 71. Loving wife to Larry Horton; devoted mother to Jennifer Horton and Kendra Horton; cherished daughter of the late Billie Tinkler; and the late Sammie Etheredge, dear sister to Gary (Karen) Etheredge.
Sandra was a creative spirit. She enjoyed crafting, especially creating beautiful stained glass art. She also loved reading, and cultivating life in the garden. Sandra was a loving wife and mother, who had recently celebrated 49 years of marriage with her dear husband, Larry. She was deeply loved, and will be missed by all who knew her.
Sandra or Sandy as she was known attended Odessa Schools, San Jacinto, Bowie, Odessa High School where she graduated in 1965. He attended Odessa College and was a 1969 graduate of Texas Tech. She was in the OHS band. She met Larry Horton at Odessa College. He was on a Baseball Scholarship. They married on August 30, 1960 shortly after her graduation from Tech.
Sandy and her family were hit with the loss of her dad in an accident in 1959 when he was assisting a neighbor in repairing his water well. He was standing in water when it shorted out and electrocuted him. This has a profound effect on Sandy, her mother and her brother. Sandra was 12 at the time.
It is my understanding that Memorial Services will be held at a later date here in Texas.
Sandy had gone through Odessa Schools, San Jacinto, Bowie and graduating from Odessa High in 1965 where she was member of the Broncho Band. Sandy then continued her education at Odessa College and Texas Tech where she graduated in 1969. She married Larry who she met at Odessa College on August 30, 1969 after he completed her degree requirements. Larry was on a baseball scholarhip at OC. When Sandy was 12 years old, her dad was electrocuted and died when he was helping repair a water well for neighbors next door. This had a profound on her and her entire family.
