I have a great memory of Mark I would love to share. I was on a baseball team sponsored by Gibbons and Reed, I think they were cement contractors or something like that. If I remember right we were the A's and we had these great green and yellow uniforms.
We played teams from other schools like MarLon and Uintah. I can't remember which team Mark played for but as a kid he had some real chubby cheeks.
It was customary for us to yell "Hay Batter Batter Batter, Swing!" on every pitch. Well Mark was the king of Hay Batter Batter. He put such gusto into it that it really was quite a distraction to us as we tried to hit the ball and avoid being plunked by the pitcher who had no idea if the ball was going to go over the plate or over the backstop on any give pitch.
Later when I got to South Jr. and met Mark for the fist time, I immediately knew who he was from our old baseball playing days.
I'm sad he won't be with us at the 20 year reunion but I know he is in a better place and will probably be with us in spirit.
