Elaine lived around the corner from my home. She and I became friends and had many conversations about life and growing up. We had our disagreements, but mostly we helped and encouraged each other. She taught me much about people and their core goodness. She accomplished much in her short life. Learning about her passing at one of our early class reunions was a profoundly sad event for me.
I still miss her every day, I keep in touch with her daughter Lanie ,who is a wonderful mother and wife. Elaine and I had some very fun times together. I remember when she told me see had cancer like it was yesterday .I broke my pelvis the first time at 14 she came and visited me almost everday and teased me about my hairy legs in fact she told Lanie to be sure and keep her legs shaved while she was in the hospital so I could not get even.
