Obituary

Mr. Karry Lee Hamblin passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, at the George Wahlen Veteran’s Home, in Ogden, Utah, on October 17, 2022, at the age of 77.  He was born in Ogden on June 15, 1945, to Jay L. and Dorothy (Marie LaPray) Hamblin.

Karry graduated from Ben Lomond High School and later enlisted in the United States Army.  He served from 1966 to 1972.  While in the military he was stationed in Germany.  It was there he met and married the love of his life, Hannelore G. Bartilla.  They enjoyed 53 years together until her passing in 2021.  

Karry retired from Hill Air Force Base, where he worked as a civilian sheet metal mechanic.  In his free time Karry loved to fish and hunt and enjoyed baking pineapple cookies for the hunts.  He also enjoyed every moment spent with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. 

Karry is survived by his son, Shawn (Paige) Hamblin, his daughter, Michelle (Scott) Simpson, and daughter, Ilona McNeil; six grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.  Karry is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and infant son, Stephen Robert Hamblin. 

Karry’s family would like to take the opportunity to recognize and thank the staff at the George Wahlen Veteran’s Home for their compassion and wonderful care of Karry. 

The celebration of Karry’s life will take place on Tuesday, November 1, 2022, at 11:00 a.m., at Myers Evergreen Memorial Park columbarium, 100 Monroe Blvd, Ogden, Utah 84401. 

Flowers may be sent to Myers Mortuary, 845 Washington Boulevard, or ordered on Myers Mortuary Website. 

The services are entrusted to the care of Myers Mortuary, Ogden, Utah.

R.I.P. Karry!!  What a great family you raised!  Thank you for sharing your son Shawn with my family, I'm sure you have been very proud of him, I sure am!!
