Borrowed from someone elses post on FB…very sad.
“From Linda D Rockey, 7/26/52–7/23/25.
“No memorial. Just tell folks i said to live generously & value caring not stuff. “
Thank you for our friendship these last 16 years, Linda. Thank you for the inspiration to love & care thoughtfully for friends & neighbors, to value justice, kindness, courage & healthcare equity.
For friends & acquaintances who don’t know, 53 days after losing her beloved daughter @allisonrockey to an untimely cancer death, Linda lost her life due to to colon cancer. She was a brave 52 year Crohn’s disease survivor, a proudly independent single woman of 25+ years, an activist for voting, & a practical collector of jazz albums, & mid-century art & decor. We enjoyed a trip to Palm Springs together in May ‘19, & she was smitten with the place (she’s pictured here in its Art Museum.) Linda was private & declined a memorial, but she told me she’d be honored if folks would live & give more generously & kindly in her honor.”
If interested here are Two orgs at which she passionately volunteered:
