In Memoriam

Elaine Kalush (Archer) - Class Of 1957

Elaine Kalush (Archer)

Elaine Kalush Archer class of 1957

"It is with much sadness that Geri and I announce our sisters passing after a two-year long battle with stomach cancer. She peacefully drifted away the morning of March 29th, to be in heaven with the Lord. After being discharged to Hospice care her wish was to live out her days at home doing the things she loved, with the people that she loved. Some of those being playing cards with friends, teaching her grandsons Zac and Dustin how to cook Lebanese cuisine, watching her favorite shows, enjoying yummy desserts, Face-timing with Geri and I, giving life tips to her son Kelly, and sitting on her beautiful patio on warm days enjoying the sun and all of her flowers. Each and every day this month she chased that silver lining and found joy in the little moments. We are celebrating the fact that she is no longer suffering and is getting to enjoy eternity in paradise. The family will be sending out invitations for a Celebration of Life as we come together to honor the amazing woman that she was."

Cancer Update for Facebook Friends and Family,   (Posted March 6, 2022)

My cancer has been sleeping quietly for a year. I’ve had a bonus year, chemo free and feeling quite normal. But now it has awakened and is on the march. I was told at the outset that this was an aggressive cancer, so I am not surprised that it is now moving quickly.

After a flare up of diverticulitis and a trip to the hospital I’ve made the decision to enter hospice. I don’t know how long I have, but I plan to live each day as well as I can. Last night I played cards with friends, If I feel up to it, I will have friends in for dinner in a couple of days (dinner is on them, I can no longer eat). But these dinners are more for the company than the food, which frankly, I miss dearly.

I will continue to live each day to the fullest of that day’s energy until the energy is gone. I am blessed to have my family here with me, taking care and being attentive in every way. When you reflect on your life and list all your regrets, things you wish you’d done better, you feel you must have done something right to be surrounded with so much love. I am blessed.   Elaine

Geri & Janet ~

I am SO sorry for the loss of your sister ~ cancer has taken so many people from my life, and you have my sympathies.  It's never an easy thing to deal with, but I hope that knowing that Elaine will not have the suffering any longer will be helpful.  My thoughts, prayers and love to you and your family ~
