WORLEY, Ann Ann Worley, 82, former women's news editor and food editor for the Dallas Times Herald, from 1963-1976, passed away on August 14 at her Laguna Woods, California, residence. During her time at the Herald, she interviewed Lady Bird Johnson, Ella Fitzgerald, Pearl Bailey, Sarah Vaughan, and many other legends of the era. After moving to Los Angeles in 1976, she worked in food public relations. She later became the Southern California executive director for Dollars For Scholars, a nonprofit that helped thousands of underprivileged high school students attend college. In the 1990s she earned her Marriage and Family Therapy masters and became a counselor, later focusing on counselor supervision. She is survived by a nephew whom she raised, Steve Stanley, his wife, Sheryl Farber, a sister, Susan Porter, and many beloved cousins and friends who will hear her jokes and feel her loyal, loving presence for the rest of their days. (In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Gamma Phi Beta Foundation, Planned Parenthood, or Heifer International.)
