SHANNON HOLCOMB


Of Washington, DC, on Friday, August 31, 2012, of complications following surgery. Beloved companion of Joseph R. Morris of Washington, DC. Also survived by her sister, Susan Barron of Seattle, Washington, and nieces Emily Cooper of Seattle, Allison Cooper of Texas, Holly Likos of Wisconsin, Mary Bryan of Washington, and Carol Bryan of Oregon.
 
Shannon was born in Oklahoma City on January 9, 1941. She graduated from Oklahoma State University and taught English in the Baltimore public schools.. Later she moved to Washington, DC where she operated an art gallery and worked as a photographer and graphic designer. She was an accomplished printmaker and sculptor. After receiving an MA from George Mason University in 1993, she conducted research as an independent scholar on the art history of fourteenth century Bohemia. She was a dedicated volunteer at the Shakespeare, Studio, and Woolly Mammoth theaters in Washington, DC.
 
A memorial service will be planned at a later date. Friends are asked to make memorial contributions in Shannon's name to the Washington theater of their choice. Please view and sign family guestbook at
