an and I go back a long way, starting with Harding. We were active in Westminster Presbyterian church, SS, choir, then OU, where we both pledged Delta Gamma (both our mothers were also). During those times we were casual friends and life happened.. In later years, we reconnected over our Fraternity's annual Founders Day at OU. Jan drove down from Tulsa and I from Dallas, and we had a good time, reliving fun times and connecting with others in school with us. We always spent the weekend in OKC, dining at La Baguette, and attending Westminster on Sunday before returning to our homes. During our time at Harding, I was so envious of Jan because she went to the beauty shop every week to get her hair done!! She told me later that she threw such a fit about shampooing that her mother in desperation turned it over to the beauty shop!!
Jan always said while we were not close friends in the early years, we had so many shared life experiences that we were close in those last years. I miss her very much but know her faith was strong.
Jan's health had deteriorated greatly in the last 5 months, due to a hip replacement which had become infected many years ago. In the last months she was hospitalized with the infection and, without a hip, was immobile. Even so and in pain, she was hopeful that she would recover. In all the years I knew her, she always had a smile on her face and a positive spirit.
