Great picture. That smile is just the way I remember Sam,  He  was friendly, kind and great sense of humor. Sadly another Eagle has departed.

Saddened to hear about Sam.  He was a pianist, trumpeter, and a first rate aeronautical engineer.  One of the Americans who put a man on the moon.  I remember during one of our visits he needed to go over to NASA on a Sunday to work on some improvements to the lunar landing module takeoff program.  He took Anita and me with him (couldn't do that in these post 911 days), and let us climb into the module while he fired up the launch computer.  From the pilot's seat, it looked just like it would if we had been on the moon.  Then the fire alarms went off (Sam had stuck that in there for our benefit), and we watched the module return to the surface of the moon.  Great times.

What a great story, Mike, about Sam's work with NASA and your shared adventure.  I wish I could hear Sam tell more about his experiences.  He was such a nice person and will be greatly missed.
