Mark H. Seidel, 53, of Centreville, MD, passed away October 5, 2023.

Born in West Reading, PA, he was the son of Shirley J. (Correll) and the late Harold C. Seidel.

He is survived by his wife, Christie Z. (Zaffuta) Seidel and his two children, Victoria (Tori) R. Seidel and Tyler Z. Seidel. Other survivors are sister Shelley L. (Seidel) Hickey, married to David J. Hickey, of Douglassville, PA.

After graduating Oley Valley High School, Mark earned a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice and pre-law at Indiana University of Pennsylvania. Mark then started his career as a police officer at Annapolis City Police Department in 1993, and after his retirement in 2021, he worked as an Animal Care Technician for Queen Anne’s County Animal Services. Mark was a graduate of the Federal Bureau of Investigation National Academy 239th Class.

Mark was most proud of his children and loved spending time outdoors. He enjoyed hunting, crabbing, going fishing at Assateague Island, MD and Cape Hatteras, NC, as well as snorkeling and vacationing in St. Croix, USVI. One of Mark’s traditions was decorating an elaborate outdoor Halloween display.

Visitation hours will be Wednesday, October 18, 2023, from 5:00-7:00 pm, and Thursday, October 19, 2023, from 11:00am-1:00 pm at Fellows, Helfenbein, & Newnam Funeral Home, 408 S Liberty St, Centreville, MD 21617, with burial service to follow at St. Peter’s Catholic Church Cemetery, Route 50 Queenstown, MD.
