Sally A. Rynard passed away peacefully on September 30, 2026 in Granger, IN at the age of 86 years old. Sally was born on May 21, 1940 in Olney, IL to Robert and Eva Marjorie Byrne.
Sally was an avid horseback rider and showed and trained horses in Olney, Il and also barrel raced. She was a gymnast on the club team at the University of Illinois but fell and broke her neck which ended that career. Despite this injury which left her in a full body cast while raising her two children Margie and Scott she graduated with her master's degree.
Though her first marriage didn't work out she headed for a new job in Kansas City where she started The Recreational Therapy Department at Bethany Hospital. And it was there that she met the love of her life, John E. Rynard.
John and Sally married on May 26, 1972 in Kansas City and remained married until John's death in 2014. In those 42 years they traveled, had a place in the Ozarks, lived in Las Vegas for six years and returned to Kansas City to enjoy retirement. During those years Sally also changed careers and became a top real estate agent and also taught at the local junior college.
Sally is survived by her children Marjorie (William) Witsken of Granger, IN and Scott Tennis of Littleton, CO., her grandchildren Lauren (Steven) Weaver, Anne Witsken and Evan (Taylor) Witsken, her great-grandchildren Caleb, Eli and Henry Weaver; Baily, Reagan and Addalyn Witsken and Liam Witsken all of Granger, IN as well as Michael Tennis and Rachel Tennis of Littleton, CO.
Sally was preceded in death by her parent's Bob and Eva Byrne; her sister, Margery Lee Byrne, who passed away at a young age with Leukemia; and her husband, John E. Rynard. We would like to thank all those who assisted us in caring for Sally including Elaine Wood, Susie Carpenter and her wonderful doctor, Shaya Mokfi.
