Ronnie "Ron" W. Hinkel, 85, of Olney, Illinois, passed away on Wednesday, July 29, 2026 at Helia Healthcare of Olney.

Ron was born April 17, 1941 in Richland County, Illinois, the son of William and Martha Lucille (Farris) Hinkel.

Ron was a farmer and worked for the County Highway Department for many years. He loved horses, and when he was younger he showed and raced Quarter horses.

Ron is survived by his sister, Mitzie Bryant of Manchester, MO; brother, Daniel (Mary) Hinkel of Atlanta, GA; niece and nephews, Jacqueline (David) Robb, Todd (Michelle) Bryant, and John Henry Hinkel and his great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Kistler-Patterson Funeral Home in Olney has been entrusted with arrangements.
