
Margaret (Peggy) (Roberts) Carson, 92, passed away at her home on June 21, 2025. She was born on July 11, 1932, to her parents Ansel Chadwick and Lillian (Smith) Roberts.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Hubert F. Carson; and her siblings; Eloise Van Cleve, Evelyn Germer, Virginia McIlwain, Sonny Roberts, Mary Jane Plummer, and Winifred Joiner.
She is survived by her four children, Ellen Treacy and husband Pat of Fall Creek, WI, Martha Stumb and husband Tom of Boulder, CO. and Sarah Burk and husband Bill of Tucson, AZ; son, Tom Carson and wife Diane of Mancos, CO; grandchildren, Olivia Haas and husband Nick, Patrick Treacy, Sheila Treacy, Morgan Stumb, Claire Stumb, Lilly Stumb, Davis Burk, Madeline Burk, and Lily Burk; great grandchildren, Harrison Stumb and Lily Haas; and many nieces and nephews.
She attended high school in Olney, Class of 1950 and then went to college at Northwestern University, where she was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority, and she graduated in 1954.
In the Olney Community, Peggy was a member of First United Methodist Church, the Southeastern Illinois Concert Association, the Olney Arts Council, and the local Audubon Society Chapter. For many years, she was an active member of the PEO.
In her later years, Peggy became interested in the art world, so she attended art classes at OCC and the Vincennes, Indiana studio, where she discovered she had a talent for drawing and painting. She was also a gifted cook and loved to entertain. But most importantly, Peggy cherished her many friends.
A memorial celebration will be held in Olney on Friday, July 11, 2025, 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm at her home; 5316 E. Seven Hills Ln., Olney, IL.
