Donald Harold Hinderliter, 87, of Olney, Illinois, passed away on Friday, August 28, 2026 at his home.

Don was born January 21, 1939 in Olney, Illinois, the son of Preston and Alberta L. (Lemke) Hinderliter. He married Mary Joann Gaede on August 24, 1957, and she preceded him in death on March 10, 1985. He later married Shirley (Appleman) Hess on June 17, 1988, and she also preceded him in death on January 1, 2016.

Don is survived by his son, Stephen (Sherri) Hinderliter; longtime partner, Fran Slichenmeyer; grandkids, Joshua Hinderliter, Jacob Hinderliter, Ryan Hinderliter, Angie Hinderliter, Jody Hinderliter, and Jordan Hinderliter; great grandkids, Rylan, Shawn, Christine, Madison, and Joanna; brother, Allen Hinderliter; stepchildren, Cliff (Sue) Hess, Terry (Joyce) Hess, Christine (Brad) Raley, and Luvena (Terry) Evans. Along with several grandchildren and great grandchildren that called him 'Grandpa Don'.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two wives; son, Douglas Hinderliter; grandsons, Nick Hinderliter and Nathan Hinderliter.

Kistler-Patterson Funeral Home in Olney has been entrusted with arrangements.

Cremation Rites will be accorded, and burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery in Parkersburg.
