
THREE VEHICLE CRASH LEAVES ONE DECEASED

The Daviess County Sheriff's Office is investigating a traffic fatality accident that occurred at the intersection of State Road 257 and US 50, on Thursday, July 31st, 2025.
At approximately 4:41pm, Daviess County Central Dispatch received a call of a three (3) vehicle accident at this location.
The investigation shows Gina Graber of Loogootee was driving a 2014 Ford Edge and was eastbound on US 50. Daniel Altmeyer of Huntingburg was driving a 2015 FedEx truck and was southbound on State Road 257. Jake Kuykendall of Olney Illinois was driving a 2023 Honda moped northbound on State Road 257 and was stopped on the south side of the intersection.
A collision occurred between the Ford Edge and the FedEx truck; the FedEx truck then struck the moped.
As a result of the collision Mr. Kuykendall was thrown from the moped. He was transported to Daviess Community Hospital and then transferred to a hospital in Evansville where he passed away during the night. Mr. Kuykendall’s family has been notified.
The Daviess County Sheriff’s Office is the investigating agency.
The Indiana State Police are reconstructing the accident.

Jake Thomas Kuykendall, 39, of Washington, IN, formerly of Olney, IL, passed away surrounded by family on August 1, 2025 as a result of injuries sustained in a traffic accident.
Jake was born November 28, 1985 in Vincennes, IN, to parents, Mike and Nancy Kuykendall.
He is survived by his parents, Mike and Nancy Kuykendall of Olney; sister, Jordyn Laughlin and husband Ian of Olney; nephews, Archer and Rhys, and niece, Ellisyn; grandmother, Lyndia Kuykendall; aunt, Bev Norton; uncle, Tom Saxe; and cousins.
Preceded in death by his grandfather, Stuart Kuykendall and grandparents, Duane and Marjorie Saxe.
Kistler-Patterson Funeral Home in Olney has been entrusted with arrangements.
Per his wishes there will be no formal services. There will be a private family gathering at a later date.
