
Lida Kathleen (Rodgers) Taylor 95, of Manteno, IL passed away at home on June 12, 2025. Born on February 17, 1930 to Ellis Rodgers and Blanche (Read) Rodgers in Olney, IL, where she attended Olney High School. She married Donald Ray Taylor on December 23, 1946 in Newton, IL. Lida and Don mostly called Illinois home, but also lived in Oklahoma, North Dakota, Florida, Missouri, and Texas.
In addition to her role as a homemaker, Lida worked at Mike’s Ice Cream Parlor in Olney, the commissary and data processing center at Manteno State Hospital, and as a campground host at Kankakee River State Park. She also volunteered at churches, schools, and community organizations wherever she lived, like the Associated Women for Schults-Lewis Children and Family Services and Women for Abilene Christian University. She was an active member of the Church of Christ in all of their homes, most recently the Bourbonnais Church of Christ.
Lida is remembered as hard working, loving, kind, and supportive as mother to Ronald and Christy Taylor, Randy Taylor, Donna and Mark Brown, Mary and Michael Frazier; sister to Alice and Robert Reis, Mary and Gene Brown, Rose and John Teel, Beverly Jeanette and Jim Misner, Carroll and Richard Negley, Thomas and Carolyn Rodgers; grandmother to Michelle Howell, Timothy Taylor, Tonnia Taylor, Jason Taylor, Matthew Brown, Kathleen Williams, Madeline Frazier, and Megan Dillard; as well as 8 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Above all Lida is remembered as joyful and hopeful, a direct result of her love for the Lord. Even living through the difficulty of dementia, she was faithful and prayerful and committed to “doing what the good Lord wants me to do” until the very end.
Lida was preceded in death by her parents, husband Donald, son Randy, and sisters Alice, Mary, Rose, and Jeanette.
Visitation will take place at Urban Prairie Church, Manteno IL on July 20th, 2025 from 2-4pm followed immediately by a memorial service led by Ryan Williams. A family graveside service will follow in Olney, IL on July 21st, 2025 at 11:00am.
