Warner, Marilyn Of Eugene, OR. passed on July 27, 2016 after an 18-month battle with breast cancer. Marilyn was born at Murphy's Maternity Home on July 5th, 1942, Greeley, NE to Raymond and Winifred Warner. She is survived by her son, David Benak and his family of Topeka, KS. She is also survived by four brothers: Jerome of Greeley, Father Jim of Harlingen, TX, Joe of Waverly, NE, and Dave of St. Paul, NE; two sisters: Patricia of Greeley and Catherine (Kate) of Canaan, NH, who had the pleasure of doing Hospice Care for Marilyn the last weeks of her life. Marilyn also is survived by many nieces and nephews and their offspring. Marilyn spent 33 years of her life teaching English at OPS/Burke High School in Omaha, NE. She won the National Endowment Seminar, National Endowment of Independent Study on Frontier Women, Con Agra Creative Teacher Award and League of Jewish Women on "isms" Award. She was the President of Omaha AAUW from 2011-2012. Marilyn traveled extensively throughout her life, which was one of her joys. Marilyn moved to Eugene, Oregon in 2013 where she was active in P.E.O., was a generous donor to the Nobel Laureate's Peace Park and the Oregon Cultural Trust. Marilyn was a collector of depression glass, vintage brooches, quilting fabric and all genre's of literature. She loved to bake for family and friends alike. She gave generously of her time, talents, and her wealth. She will be missed for her gentle laugh and dry wit.
A memorial service will be held in Greeley, NE at a later date.
