age 86

Passed away November 16, 2015 in Los Angeles, CA. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold "Hal" Gray in 2003.

They both lived in Bellevue, NE until a move in 2000 to the Southern California area to bring them closer to their family. Joy is survived by her daughter, Lesley (Gray) Anton, and her son-in-law Craig Anton, both of Omaha Burke High School (1980), currently of Los Angeles, CA; granddaughters, Ruby and Delphine Anton, also of Los Angeles; sister, Kathleen (Ireland) Bibbins, originally from Mason, MI, now of St. Louis, MO; nieces, Denise (Bibbins) Loftus, of Columbus, OH; Bonita (Bibbins) Benda, and Kathleen Bibbins, both of St. Louis, MO; Laurie Ann Bibbins of Oakland, CA, brother, Tommy Hammond, and sister-in-law, Jewell Hammond, of Punta Gorda, FL.

Joy was born in Flint, MI, attended Adrian College and went on to become an elementary school teacher and principal. She married Hal Gray in 1956, (she proposed after knowing him for 2 months). Their journey took them from Michigan to New Orleans, LA, Vancouver, British Columbia, then to Omaha in 1973. Hal had been a professor at Tulane, University of British Columbia, UNO and Embry Riddle Aeronautical University. Joy continued her education at UNO, worked at the UNO Library, and at Burke High School in College counseling. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, and her enthusiasm and laughter will be truly missed by all who knew her.

Joy and Hal's wishes were that their ashes both be scattered together off of Gray's Peak in Colorado when the snow melts this coming summer.
