FUNERAL SERVICE 10am Thursday, August 21, 2014; VISITATION Wednesday 6-8pm, all at Roeder Mortuary. Interment Forest Lawn Cemetery. Memorials suggested to Living Faith United Methodist Church or the Alzheimer's Association. She was a teacher and supervisor with OPS and served as a professor in the College of Education for over 30 years at UNO.

Helen Jane was born January 28, 1934 to John and Maurine Howell. In 1955, she was 21, still living at home at 2130 Pinkney, Omaha, Nebraska, attending the University of Omaha (UNO). Her father was a carman with the Union Pacific Railroad.

Helen earned her teaching degree, and later became a teacher and supervisor with the Omaha Public Schools and a professor in the College of Education at UNO.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

She is survived by her siblings: John C. (Jean) Howell, Robert L. (Betty) Howell; nieces, nephews and other family members and friends.

Visitation Wednesday 6-8 pm, Aug. 20, at Roeder Mortuary, 2727 N. 108th Street Omaha, Nebraska. Service 10 am Thursday, also at the funeral home. Interment Forest Lawn Cemetery in Omaha, Nebraska.
