Age 68 Passed away at his home on August 13, 2017 after battling cancer. Gary was surrounded by his family when he passed and had many visits from friends and family in the week preceding his death.

Gary was born in Lincoln, NE, to Earl and Delores (McCaffrey) Focht in 1949. Gary grew up in Lincoln as part of a large family and loved spending time with his many brothers and sisters. Gary graduated from Trinity Prep High School in Sioux City, IA, and attended St. Thomas Seminary in Denver, CO, for several years before returning to NE where he graduated from UNO.

Gary taught elementary school in the Omaha Public Schools system for many years and loved teaching. After retiring from OPS, Gary spent his time watching baseball, reading, traveling, watching live music and spending time with his family and friends.

Gary is survived by his wife, Linda; sons, John (Kyle) and Matt (Crystal); along with his brothers, sisters, and grandchildren.

At his request, no services will be held. Instead, Gary's family and friends will hold a party in his honor, beginning at 1pm on August 27th, 2017, at Castle Barrett, located at 4330 Leavenworth St., Omaha, NE.
