Peggy M. Cooke (Sutton)

Peggy Maurine Sutton, of Glendora, CA, and formerly of Omaha, NE, passed away after a short illness on February 19th. Peggy was 85 years of age, having been born on December 14, 1931 in Omaha, NE, to Margaret C. Cooke and Layton W. Cooke.

She graduated from UNO with a degree in Music Education, studying piano and pipe organ. Peggy taught music in the Omaha Public Schools. She served as a lifelong pipe organist in many Omaha Episcopal Churches including Trinity Cathedral, St. Barnabus, St. Marks, St. Johns, St. Stevens Ashland, and St. Augustine Elkhorn.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James L. Sutton; her sister, Jane Cooke; and brothers, Willard, Hugh and Keith Cooke. She is survived by her children, James W. Sutton and Janie Sutton; and four-legged daughter, Bunny Sutton. She is most remembered for her artist's heart and soul, her musicianship, and her love of and trust in God. While she resided in CA her last four years, Omaha was always closest to her heart.

FUNERAL SERVICE: 11am Tuesday, October 24th, at Church of the Resurrection, 3004 Belvedere Blvd, Omaha NE 68111, to be followed by a graveside ceremony at Forest Lawn Cemetery.
