Burna Mae Dallinger (Hershey)

Burna Mae (Bunny) Hershey, age 97, of Norfolk, died September 7, 2018 in Lincoln, NE. Born October 16, 1920, in Omaha to Mary Lenora (Duncan) and Harold Dallinger, she graduated from South High School. She went on to receive a Bachelor of Science degree in Education in 1942 from the University of Omaha (UNO).

Bunny taught five years in the Omaha Public School district.

On June 15, 1947 she married Robert Hershey at Kountze Memorial Lutheran Church in Omaha. They were married 65 years and to this union three children were born.

Bunny was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Norfolk for 65 years, where she sang many of those years in the church choir. She has been a member of garden extension clubs, league bowling and the Ladies Auxiliary of the VFW. Bunny enjoyed crocheting slippers for the NE regional hospital patients. She liked sewing, crafts, reading, camping, tending to her flower gardens, and a good board game or cards. Her happiest times were spent with family.

Survivors include her son, Jim (Julie) Hershey of Kamiah, ID; her daughters, Bobette Volquardsen (Bill) of Valley, NE; Melinda (John) Reinert of Lincoln, NE; grandchildren: Bobbie, Kim, Stacey, Katie, James, Evan, Colin, and Jordan; and 11 great-grandchildren. Bunny was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert; sister, Geraldine Vasholz; and grandson, Brennan.

Private family services will be held Friday at Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home. Pastor Barbara Oshlo of St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Valley, NE will officiate.
