In Memory

Amber K. Suttle (Tjaden)

September 17, 1972 - January 27, 2021

She is survived by her parents, James and Deborah Suttle; her husband, Matthew Tjaden; and her sister, Adele Suttle. She is also survived by her four children, Savannah Suttle, Kellan French, McClain Tjaden, and Maximus Tjaden.

Amber graduated from Burke High School in 1990 and attended the University of Nebraska at Omaha where she earned her Bachelor's degree in elementary education and teaching in 1996. She received her master's degree in higher education administration from Olivet Nazarene University in 2011. Amber worked as a teacher for Omaha Public Schools and eventually became the director of the Gateway to College program at Metropolitan Community College in Omaha. She was a devoted mother and did everything for her children. Amber was also fiercely passionate for her students, and she knew that if she could show that she believed in them, they would come to believe in themselves. She went well beyond just being a teacher and mentor; she advocated for so many to change their lives and improve their situations, and she worked to make the world a better place. We hope that this is her legacy: her children and her students, striving to bring out the best in themselves and the people around them, continuing to spread her strength, and inspiring others to stand up for those in need. She will be greatly missed by her children, her extended family, her friends, her fellow educators, and her many current and former students.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Nebraska Humane Society. Amber will forever be remembered by all those who met her. May she find the peace and comfort in knowing how much she was truly loved by us all.
