William L. "Bill" Powers was born May 10, 1927 in Manilla, IA, to Thomas J. and Elizabeth (McNertney) Powers. Bill graduated from Manilla High School in 1945. He received his bachelor's degree in business education from UNO in 1952 and his master's degree in 1955. Bill taught business education classes at Omaha Technical High School and Omaha Benson High School from 1952 to 1985.

Bill was united in marriage to Laura M. Hansen on June 8, 1957. Reading, traveling and gardening were foremost among his hobbies.

Bill is survived by wife Laura Powers; nieces and nephews, Colleen Brown, Elizabeth Parker, Debra (David) Mitchell, Patrick (Jeanie) Powers, and Michael Powers.
