
SULLIVAN, Wis. - Robert "Bob" James Barbano Sr., 61, formerly of Oneida, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, May 6, 2011 at his residence, following an apparent coronary attack.
Born in Oneida, on March 1, 1950, the fifth of nine children to Allen R. and Caroline DeSenza Barbano. Bob was a graduate of St. Patrick's School in Oneida, a 1968 graduate of Oneida High School and a New York State Regents Scholarship winner. He attended Herkimer County Community College and St. John Fisher College.
Robert worked numerous years as a union construction worker in the Milwaukee area, and recently retired from the profession.
He is survived by his son, Robert Barbano Jr. of Sullivan, Wis.; five brothers and three sisters-in-law, Allen and Jean Barbano, David Barbano and Mark and Robyn Barbano, all of Oneida, Paul Barbano of Vista, Calif. and Gary and Laura Barbano of Fairfax, Va.; three sisters and one brother-in-law, Barbara Barbano of Syracuse, Karen Barbano of Oneida and New York City and Anne Barbano and Michael George of Burlington, Vt.; and ten nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father, Allen R. Barbano in 1981 and his mother, Caroline (DeSenza) Barbano in 2006.
Funeral services will be held at noon, Saturday from the Campbell-Dean Funeral Home, Inc., 260 Main St., Oneida with the Rev. Richard Kapral, officiating. Interment will be made in St. Patrick's Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home, 10 a.m. to noon, prior to the funeral service.
