Thanks everyone for the bday greetings!! Yes Donna I remember that drive to OKC vividly!!! haha

Get pulled over and the cop starts asking you questions as you answer ah, ah, ah and when he finally gets to the birth date, you are ahhhhhhhh September ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh 1st????????????????? I am so surprised he let us go too - had to be your incredible good looks! Remember also how stupid that we wanted to take a break from driving and rest, and instead we go to the caverns and walked for hours!!!!!!!!!!

Happy birthday to Donna - finally joined the ranks of 58 year olds! Love ya and missed you at the reunion!

larry, what happened to your entry about the early bands. sorry about the typing but i had hand surgery yesterday and have only 1 usable hand. i do remember eric and the chessman but didn't recognize the others. i wonder what all these folk are doing now. you have some great childhood memories!

I do remember the Barbarians, but I can't remember what I remember about them other than the drummer with the hook for an arm.

I definitely recall Eric and the Chessmen and the Barbarians seem to ring a bell too, but the others Larry mentioned I draw a blank on. I rarely went to the Lakeshore as we usually hit the Forest when we went to the beach. That place had to have been one of the most loudest places I've ever been in when the band was blaring. No way could you carry on a conversation unless you were able to sign back and forth.
Did anyone in the Oneida area catch the performance of Steve Carney and his new band recently? I wonder how they sounded after all these years.

if you can go to you tube, you can hear steve play. Wow, i missed a drummer with a hooked arm. Don't see that everyday.

The Barbarians were a one hit wonder with their record, "Are you a boy, or are you a girl?"

I remember that song, I always thought the Kinks did it. How did they happen to play around here? Were they local?

Robert Vandenheuvel

Sue-the Kinks would have been "Lola"!

my poor old computer doesn't play videos but thanks rob, for the wikepedia lead. it was fun reading about them and to think larry, that you ran into moulty after all these years! great story! what about that all girl band, what was their name. that was pretty unusual for that era.

Larry Carello

Sue, the all girl band was the "Satin Dolls." They played at the Lakeshore during the late '60s
