50th reunion Posted Sunday, June 10, 2018 02:33 PM So here's my thoughts about our reunion. Marble hill inn was fun at our last reunion. I liked the outdoor seating, live music and beautiful scenery. To do that again would be aok with me. For the next night, I was thinking about Harpoon Eddies in Sylvan beach. They have parties, reunions, etc. all the time. Their menu has lots of choices(google Harpoon Eddies and see for yourself) We could all just order what we want and pay for our own meals. This way we eliminate the need for a class menu, flyers, special diets etc. The money we collect from classmates could go for the space and maybe a live band. There is a Cny band....The Swamp drivers, that is very good. They make a lot of their own instruments from unusual items like a cigar box, bedpans, hubcaps etc. Google them if you are not familiar with them. Harpoon Eddies has 2 large decks for outdoor eating. You could even bring a lawn chair and stick your feet in the sand and watch a beautiful Oneida lake sunset. If it's raining, the indoor dining area is nice too. This is just an idea I'm putting out there. Love to hear from anyone else. I thought it was a good idea to simplify things a bit as far as food and also go with a less formal atmosphere. Rob and Dennis both did a great job but neither are keen on doing it again. And it's not fair that it all falls on one person. What we do need right away is a date. Some people plan family vacations a year in advance. So check your calenders and post some dates on here. We need participation!! |

RE: 50th reunion Posted Sunday, July 1, 2018 02:48 PM So Harpoon Eddies is out. Not enough room inside if it rains. Pam and I were thinking the American Legion or is it VFW on North main street next to Vets field. They have a new outdoor area that is nice and plenty of room inside if it rains. Any daytime activities or something for Sunday will have to be someone eles idea. I am at a loss with that. |

RE: 50th reunion Posted Wednesday, July 4, 2018 12:21 PM How about maybe Verona Beach State Park. Besides their pavillions they have a new building there that is large enough to hold a reunion and is totally enclosed, near the beach and bathhouse. We could have it catered by someone like Dinosaur Barbeque. I still think we should form a committee locally. And I will send out another class email in hopes to get more people involved in the planning for this. |

RE: 50th reunion Posted Wednesday, July 4, 2018 01:33 PM I sent you a private message, but I am willing to help. Somehow I got logged out of the site and didn't realize it so doidn't think I could reply. I am willing to come for meetings if you get a local group together. |

RE: 50th reunion Posted Friday, July 6, 2018 02:58 PM Not a lot I can do ahead of time....not being there, and being pretty out of touch with *anything* CNY related for decades. However, I might be able to liven things up a bit with some out west type trimmings I could bring. One thing comes to mind......years ago, it was the thing to bring back Coors to CNY. When it wasn't available anywhere but in Colorado. Now, things are different. But, there are literally hundreds of local craft breweries with amazing types and tastes. You wouldn't believe some of the names and how many different styles there are. I could bring a few cases of all different kinds for a tasting party. I don't really drink the shit, but sipping a taste of all the different types does appeal to me....<grin> I could also maybe do a presentation (and maybe sell a couple of my books....LOL) on The Frozen Dead Guy. Google it and see if it interests anyone. Otherwise, I'm open to suggestions as to how I can help... |

RE: 50th reunion Posted Saturday, July 7, 2018 05:21 PM Sue, it was 73 people that included couples and singles. Give or take 3 or 4 more than that, I will try and find the exact total. however this is very close.

RE: 50th reunion Posted Monday, July 9, 2018 01:12 PM I don't think Verona Beach is a good idea. I always envisioned our 50th as a big deal. That will turn out as just a daytime picnic and let me tell ya, if it is a rainy dreary day I probably won't even go. If we have music, I can't imagine them dragging their equipment across wet grass and gravel, and what about a bar? Are we just suppose to bring a six pack of beer or something? No, I feel like 50 years is big time. If we can't figure out somewhere, lets just have it again in Canastota, its better than a picnic. Just my opinion. Pam Zielasko
