50th Class Reunion
Posted Friday, July 13, 2018 01:10 PM

So here is the info I have found out lately on a few places to have this reunion.  The Elks Club in Oneida charges 14.99 per person for a fantastic buffet plus gratuity.  It would be a cash bar and they will set it up.  If we charged $25 per person (which is nothing these days for a good time) we would have enough money to get a DJ and I know of one right in Oneida that are great.  They will play for 4 hrs for I think $400.  The Elks Club is also redoing the outside of the building as we speak.  They are great people there and very accomodating. It could be an evening party and a great time.

The next place I checked out was the American Legion in Oneida.  They charge $18.00 dollars for a buffet plus gratuity.  That would also be a cash bar.  They are remodeling the place sometime in 2019.  They have a huge room that will hold alot of people and a place to set up a band or DJ.  I think the class of 1972 had their reunion there last summer.  I heard the buffet is very good.  So I have done some homework, what does anybody think??????

Pam, There was no disrespect intended.  You asked for opinions.  I just felt that there were more options than the 2 you came  up with. It seems kind of expensive.  Perhaps include the menues for the prices you are getting.  I have no idea what type of businesses cater or  even provide services for reunions other than where we had the last reunion.  I will check some thi ngs out this week end and see what I can advise on.

As I previously stated I am not interested in comitting myself for this reunion.  I hope that other class mates come forward to help out.  I will refrain from giving my opinions in the future. Thank you.

I have been out of town all weekend and just saw this. The prices are actually good in my experience. A couple of clubs I belong to are paying $25 and up in the Rochester Area for banquets, to the point the clubs subsidize the costs to the members. It is ot unusual for my husband and I to pay $35 to $40 each to attend these events. A menu would be nice to know what we are paying for. I am all for a cash bar as not everyone drinks alcohol. And based upon previous years that I have attended, a survey would be nice to see who is interested in attending. That would give an idea of how big a facility would be needed,

I am wondering how many people Rob has email addresses for?  Our class was huge and I think only about 70 people showed up for our 45th.  How do we find everyone?  Facebook?

Pam, I have the entire class list and a few guest members too.  This includes over a 100 email addresses, as well as phone numbers, and over 170 addresses.  This site is easy for someone to google, so I always assumed if the class members who are interested and I couldn't find, would some day try to join.  I can give you the info, but if you want to email classmates, it be easier to do it from this site. Whatever way you would like to do it.

If you want me to email a message to the class, or set it up so you can, we can do that too.

Is there a committee forming to plan this event? I would be willing to attend meetings and help out. As I recall, the best times are had when the gathering is informal, and at a noise level where conversation is easy.
