Lawrence W. “Larry” Winters, 73, of Morrisville, passed away on Monday, July 29, 2024 at his family home. He was born on March 5, 1951, in Oneida, a son of the late Richard and Jane (Durrenbeck) Winters and graduated from Oneida High School.

Larry worked as a cab driver in Las Vegas, NV., for over 40 years. He considered Las Vegas his home. He weas a founding member of the Las Vegas Jam Band Society. He also loved spending time with his dogs in the desert, dancing, reading and history. He was a kind and generous man to everyone.

He is survived by his sisters, Judy Parker, of Morrisville, and Karen (Eugene) English, of Syracuse, nieces and nephews; Andy, Francine and Robert English, Lisa (Jay) Moorman, Scott Parker, and an extended family and friends in Las Vegas.

He was predeceased by his nephew, Dan English, and survived by his partner, Kristen Liberatore.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a future date in Las Vegas.

Donations in his memory may be made to your local ASPCA or the Morrisville Area Christmas Project, Route 20 Catholic, 199 Stafford Ave., Waterville, NY 13480.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, 31 Cedar St., Morrisville, NY 13408.

I thought Larry was going to be a comedian. He had a phenomenal sense of humor. I remember having to do give an impromptu talk to the class about a subject drawn from a card stack. I drew “family” as a subject and got pretty good laughs berating my family. When it was over the best complement I received was that I was almost as good as Larry Winters. Great guy to be around.  RIP.

Many great times with Larry, on the ball field he was called Yogi because of his catching.  RIP!

Larry was in my homeroom all through high school.  Such a nice guy.  I think he is the one that used to sit behind me and pull my hair and make a joke of it.  Really nice guy.  RIP Larry
