I'm living in a small town north of Albany, NY. Clifton Park to be exact. Married, two daughters, both grown, one grand-daughter, two dogs and various small fleas from time to time, un welcomed of-course. My wife's name is Cathy not short for anything just Cathy. My daughters names are Michelle and Valerie (compliments of the Beatles and the Monkees. Thank you very much.)
Now I've got a theory about kids... having been contemplating this for the past 35 years (please note that that is the same age as my oldest).... You can keep kids! They're too needy and expensive too.....Ahhhh but......Grand kids! Now that's quite another story. My granddaughter, Skylar Mackenzie, now 11 is smarter than a whip and funnier than a crutch. This child, at 5 years of age, had a far more extensive vocabulary than I ever did. I know, I know that's not saying much.... but in my defense I did pickup a few more words after leaving Sylvan Beach.
My dog, E.V., passed away a couple years ago but I am happy to say that I still have 2 dogs Jake and Annabell, both rescued from a shelter and are pure bred mutts. The fleas I've yet to moniker, I'm waiting to see if they last the winter before I start thinking of names.
You might remember that during 11th grade Reginald Eddy and I joined the Marine Corps. Well, shortly there after that he went to Vietnam and I ended up stationed in Hawaii. It was real tough duty..you know, 7 single woman for every single man, sunny and between 70 and 90 degrees every day and between 60 and 80 degrees every night. South sea trade winds blowing through your hair in the evenings.....wait a minuet, I was in the Marine Corps, I didn't have any hair.... I do have good news and bad news about this story though. First the bad news...It rained almost every day, on base, thus the moisture for the tropical vegetation here in paradise. It rains almost everyday in the mountains. Wouldn't you know that was where my base was. Ah, but the good news is, it only rained between 2 am & 4 am daily. As a matter of fact I don't think it rained all day more than 6 times during the 2 years I was there.
I finished up high school with my GED while I was in Hawaii and was a computer operator for the Marines. After the Marine Corps I drifted for awhile. Got married a couple of times. I finally landed a job with the State of New York. Now I'm retired from the Department of Labor and life in general. I was a Disabled Veterans' Outreach Program Specialist, just a fancy way to say that I assisted disabled vets in finding employment. Now I guess I'm just a fisherman. I've got a boat, oops sold the boat, but I still do some fishing from time to time. Last September I and 2 of my retired buddies spent a week 7 & 1/2 hours North of Toronto, Canada fishing. I say that tongue and cheek because I believe, that we returned home without any. Fish that is, plenty of fish stories but I'm happy to say, no fish.
My wife still works, she's nine years younger than I am and didn't start working until after the kids were in school. She also works for the state. Too bad about that late start.... she's got a few more years to go before she can retire. Lucky me, huh?
Not necessarily a big success story but it's my story and I'm sticking to it. ;-) Bryan
