Charles A. King Jr.

WEST ONEONTA _ Charles A. King Jr., the son of Charles and Terry King of West Oneonta, was born Dec. 13, 1971, in Peoria, Ill., lost his 3 plus year battle with brain cancer on Saturday, May 15, 2010.

Charles was a great and loving father and leaves behind his daughter, Kayla. His sister, Amber M. King; and nephews, Joshua and Justin Barton; as well as his parents. Charles is also survived by a grandmother, Arlie Mackey of Peoria, Ill.; uncle, Elex (Buddy) Mackey; and aunts, Nora Long of East Peoria, Ill., and Crystal Sherman of Peoria, Ill.; and locally uncles, Ernest (Butch), Alton (Pete) and Pepe Burgher; as well as many cousins; and numerous, numerous friends.

Charles was preceded in death by his grandmother, Anna M. (Sisson) King Burgher.

Charles other than the love he gave his daughter and family, enjoyed making food channel road trips with his mother and daughter for food.

He also was a devoted Dallas Cowboys fan and enjoyed Fantasy Football.

And one of his wishes, because he hated getting dressed up was that the family asks that those who attend his services do so in shirts showing their favorite team or casual attire, to honor him.

Calling hours will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, May 19, 2010, at the Bookhout Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oneonta.

Funeral services will be at 9 a.m. Thursday, May 20, 2010, at the funeral home with the Rev. Mel Farmer officiating. Burial will be in the Oneonta Plains Cemetery.
