Eugenia Johnson VIEW PROFILE

We pay tribute to the life of Eugenia Johnson Long, who was born December 18, 1961 in Newark, NJ. Her transition in life came to a close June 3, 2014. Eugenia was proceeded in the transition by her mother, Mary E. Johnson, sister, Glenda James and her husband, Will Long. Eugenia, an English major at Seton Hill College, class of 1983, and a graduate of Orange High School, class of 1979, was an athlete and avid reader. In the late 70's and early 80's she could often be found playing her recorder in the park or reading comic strips at the McCall family home here in Orange. At Seton Hill, she was a brilliant scholar and poet. She received her BA from Seton Hill, and later completed work toward the MA at Ohio University in Athens, where she was on a teaching fellowship. She then finished the MA in literature and received a graduate assistantship to study at Ohio University. Eugenia married Will Long and through this came their only child, Monique. In December 2013 she became a proud grandmother of her only grandchild, Ariella Cook. Eugenia is survived by: her adoptive mother, Willa May Jarmon; as well as sisters, Michelle Grissett, Vivian Johnson-Fedd, Rhonda McNeil, Doreen James and Clarisa Lamar Walter; adopted sister, Deanna Jarmon; brothers, Dwayne James, Marlin James, and Russell Allen Johnson; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
