Roosevelt David Whitted Jr, on June 11, 2000 at his home, survived by his father Roosevelt Whitted Sr., his mother, Willa Whitted, two sisters, Eshter D. and Willette D. Whitted, and his grandmother, Martha Whitted. David's (as we knew him) service was Wednesday June 14, 2000 at Soul Saving Station in New York. Interment was at Rosehill Cemetary in Linden on Thursday the 15th.
I (Tamika Sanford-Haygood) saw David not too long before his passing and as you all know about this brother, he was in wonderful spirits. At the time the cancer had returned and he was going through treatments but he had that winning smile on his face. I remember him a real comedian and so musically gifted. He is and will continue to be missed!

I was able to speak to Dave one last time at Mr. Bryant's Tribute gathering in the OHS auditorium. Even though it was evident he was very ill, he continued to lament at "How could they bury Mr.B with hair! They know he wouldnt want hair on his head!" Funny till the end. Dave was truly one of the more gifted OHS students in the Class Of 1990 and his passing can only remind us of our own mortality and how fragile life is. Rest In Peace Dave.K.E.P
