Gerard Justin Cowherd Gerard Justin Cowherd, 34, of Charlottesville, died on Thursday, September 12, 2013, at the Martha Jefferson Hospital. Born on September 4, 1979, in Alexandria, he was a son of Wilmer James Cowherd of Louisa, and the late Marion Marie Nixon Cowherd. In addition to his father, he is survived by his wife, Shamanoda Larelle Cowherd of Charlottesville; one son, Gerard Justin Cowherd Jr. of Charlottesville; grandmothers, Lucille Nixon of Gordonsville, and Iris Cowherd of Gordonsville; one brother, Djuane Douglas of Mechanicsville; and a host of other relatives and friends. A funeral service was held at 3 p.m. Friday, September 20, 2013, at the Preddy Funeral Home Chapel in Gordonsville.
