If I remember correctly, Dustin was running when he collapsed and died from heart failure. I went to the funeral and remember what a great spirit was there. I remember the family talking about the fact that he had just handed in his mission papers and now his mission was to take place in Heaven. Dustin was very quiet at school but I so enjoyed the conversations we had. He was a great guy.

I didn't know Dustin very well, but I did know he was a very genuine person. He was very quiet, but was one of the kindest people I have ever known.

I grew up with Dustin, all through elementary to high school. The wonderful thing about Dustin is that he did not care what people thought. He lived his life for himself. He was an amazing runner. I too believe his mission was to be elsewhere.

Dustin was a good friend to me going back to junior high school. I can say he was the main reason I later joined the high school cross country and track teams for which I am grateful for. I was very surprised, as we all were, when I learned of his passing at such a young age. I felt honored that his parents ask me to be a pallbearer.

He was a great runner, teammate, and friend. I sometimes think about him and the fun we had in math class and at track practice. Dustin always had a wonderful sense of humor and a smile on his face.
