Kevin and I had a few run-ins in elementary school at Scera Park. I remember one day I made him upset and he hit me in the stomach out in the back by that climbing, jungle-gym 1/2 dome thing. It didn't hurt, but I wanted him to think it hurt, so I slowly fell to my knees like Bo or Luke Duke would do on Dukes of Hazard. My acting skills were honed from that show, along with "Little House on the Prairie" and "Brady Bunch" (episode where Peter gets a black eye).

Kevin immediately said he was sorry. I waved him off and feigned breathlessness. He invited me over later that day and I visited his home a number of times through elementary. His family was so good to me. I remember eating honey sandwiches at Kevin's house.

I know that Kevin struggled a bit as he got older . . . but who doesn't? I know I'll see him again. Kevin was a good man. A good, good man.
