Julie Anderson (Allphin)

Julie Anderson (Allphin)

Julie Danielle Anderson Allphin of Orem passed away peacefully in her sleep Sunday morning, April 10, 2016. Born in Jacksonville, FL to Vernon L and Joyce Roberts Anderson, Julie was the second of eight children. In her early years, the family lived in Salt Lake City and Palo Alto, CA, while her father pursued advanced degrees in foreign languages, and later in Charleston, IL. They settled in Utah County in 1956 when her father joined the BYU faculty. Julie attended Lincoln Jr High and Orem High School and graduated from Provo High. In 1962, Julie moved with her family to Salvador, Brazil where she taught English to aspiring university students. With the untimely death of her mother, Julie postponed her own university studies to remain in Brazil to care for her six younger siblings. Upon her return to Utah, she was snatched up by her best friend, Robert Louis Allphin and they were married Aug 5, 1966 in the Logan LDS Temple. Julie's life revolved around her family. Beginning early in her marriage, each of her siblings spent time living with Robert and Julie and developed close relationships with the couple. Julie was a passionate reader and inspired a love of learning in her children. And she went to great lengths to teach them the joy of work well done. A consummate cook, she opened "Our Mom's Pies" in the late 70's. When she sold the business five years later, she and her family were producing over 300 dozen cinnamon rolls and danish a day, and delivering her delectable pies to the local restaurants. Julie's true masterpiece was her 10 children, and her maternal love and care for them flowed freely. Tormented by chronic ailments, she still strove to always be there for them. As the older ones left for missions and marriages, she became foster mother to six Native American children, who she and Robert raised as their own.

She is survived by her husband Robert, and her children: Robert L, Jr (Amy), Lindon; Christina Smith (Randy), Highland; David (Susan), Spanish Fork; Laurie Loveland (Jim), Alpine; Daniel (Lisa), Highland; Ryan (Elycse), Alpine; Ben, Highland; Angela Court (Dan), American Fork; Tracey Whitby (Josh), Cedar Hills; Brianna Hokama (Skylar), Bakersfield, CA; Angelique, Spanish Fork; Justin Cotonuts, Orem; Elijah Lehi (Cheyanne), Orem; Cecar Flores, Orem; Earline Cotonuts and Augustine Cotonuts, both of Towaoc, CO; and 46 grandchildren. Also survived by six siblings: Colette Gill (Thomas), Evergreen, CO; Vernon Jr and David, Salt Lake City; Susan Schilling, Mattoon, IL; Jonathan and Laurence, Salt Lake City. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Martha Anderson and granddaughter, Amberlie Loveland.
