Shari Cook (Flygare)

Shari Cook Flygare, age 77, of Orem, passed away peacefully in her home Saturday, December 25, 2021. She was born November 24, 1944, in Provo, Utah to Rulon F. and Katherine B. Cook. She married her high school sweetheart and the love of her life, J. Kay Flygare on March 4, 1966, in the Salt Lake Temple.

Shari had many wonderful memories growing up on a fruit farm on Carterville Road in Orem. She attended Orem High where she was on the Tigerette’s dance team. After graduation, she attended BYU and was part of the International Folk Dancers, which she truly loved. Shari was a great example of a devoted wife and loving mother. She and Kay had 8 wonderful children to whom she devoted her life to. Shari was very talented and artistic in many ways. She was especially creative at Christmas time. She tole painted, crocheted, and sewed gifts that delighted the hearts of her children and grandchildren year after year. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served faithfully in many callings before her health failed.

Shari was a devoted wife and mother. She and Kay had 8 wonderful children. She is survived by her husband, J. Kay Flygare; 7 children: Mike (Stephanie) Flygare, Kerrie (Jim) Jenson, Matt (DeAnn) Flygare, Troy (Nicki) Flygare, Teresa Flygare, Katie (Justin) Layne, Brittany (Cody) Gifford, 17 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Shari Lee Wilson. Shari is greatly loved and will be missed by her husband children and grandchildren.
