Charlene Shurtz (Wakefield)

Charlene Shurtz Wakefield, 73, passed away September 18, 2019. She was born September 20, 1945 to Wayne Shurtz and Mary Thomas Shurtz in Provo, Utah.

Charlene was the business owner of Jim’s Auto & Muffler in Provo, started by her late husband who passed away November 1999. Since Jim’s passing Charlene experienced a renewed enjoyment of life; discovering her independence and confidence in herself.

She enjoyed time with family, which included 2 daughters, Laura and Carrie; grandchildren, Niccole, Brenden, Paige, Courtney, and Cassidy, and 5 great-grandchildren. She was also surrounded by a loving circle of friends called “The Coffee Girls,” who would meet once a week to catch up on each other’s lives.

You could find her every Saturday at Jim’s Auto selling treasures she had found. Charlene became quite the avid bargain hunter. She enjoyed the thrill of a good find and then selling it for triple what she paid for it. You could also find Mink Blankets in a wide variety patterns at her sales. She was known as “The Blanket Lady.”
