Marilyn Carlson (Mitchell)

Marilyn Fern Carlson Mitchell was born on April 16, 1945, the youngest daughter of Carl LaVar and Fern Prudence Powell Carlson, in Lehi, Utah. She passed away December, 2011. She grew up in Lehi and later in Orem, Utah, where she met her husband, Robert Bruce Mitchell.  They were married in the LDS Temple on June 7, 1968. She was an active member of the LDS church, serving in many positions. She was Executive Director of the BYU Cougar Band Alumni Association for many years. She lectured for Weight Watchers, was business manager for Montessori School of Murray and manager of Hancock Fabrics in Sandy. She also worked at JoAnn Fabrics. She was an active Scouter on local, district and council levels. She learned and taught dimensional embroidery and wrote and published several instruction books. She was preceded in death by her parents and grandson, Kaleb. She is survived by her husband, her son and his wife, Rob (Robert Bruce II) and Carisa, and her grandchildren; her brother, Bert (Leanna) Carlson, her sister, LaRane Cordova and extended family. She fought the good fight, won every battle, and gave the winner of the war a hollow victory.
