David Hugh Findlay, loving father and grandfather died peacefully from natural causes, in his home surrounded by family November 17, 2021.

David was born August 15, 1945, and grew up in Orem, Utah and was one of five children of Merrill Hugh and Ann Ames Findlay. He went to Orem High then attended Brigham Young University and Utah State University and graduated with a Masters in Family and Human Development. David went on to work 30 years with Utah Department of Human Services. He also served his country in the National Guard for 18 years.

David was a member in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, where he served in many various and important callings throughout his life.

As a child, David loved to visit his grandparents in Star Valley, Wyoming, helping them out on their dairy farm and fishing in the nearby lakes and streams.

David married his high school sweetheart, Rebecca Campbell and they had five children together. They had a love of music and sang in various choirs, plays and theatre. In addition, they sang with their children and were known as the “Findlay Family Singers” and performed regionally at church parties, fairs, and other events for several years.  David and Becky were later divorced.

He had a love for the outdoors and enjoyed hunting and fishing throughout his life. David was thought of as a big “teddy bear” with his big heart and genuine love, care and respect to all he encountered.

He is survived by two older sisters Carol Ann (Lee Halladay) and Beth (Dave Hughes), two younger brothers Kelly (Lisa) Findlay and Chris (Julee) Findlay and his children Nina Findlay, Heather Jordan, Laura (Wade Stefffenhagen), Hugh (Rebecca) Findlay, Adam Findlay (Chelsea Buckler), seven beloved grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
