In Memory

Steven Mendenhall

We were saddened to learn of the death of Steven Jesse Mendenhall, our Class of 1970 Tiger Mascot,
who died on December 12, 2014. You’ll all remember Steve as the guy beneath the fierce tiger costume our
senior year. In addition to serving as the mascot, Steve sang in Orem High’s Concert Choir.

Steve was born on March 18, 1952, to Lee and Hope Mendenhall of Provo, Utah. He was one of seven
children. Steve grew up in Edgemont; after graduating Orem High, he joined the National Guard.
While growing up, Steve worked with his whole family at University Cleaners. Later, he was in the restaurant
business and managed for The Cracker Barrel, IHOP, and several other eateries.  He loved cats and was a compassionate person. Steve was the caretaker for his grandmother and for both of his parents during their last few months of life.

Steve is survived by his children, Angie Clark, Tamara Kinoshita, and Tiffany Wilkins; eight grandchildren;
his brothers and sister, Gregg Mendenhall, Larry Mendenhall, Sharee Jensen, Jeff Mendenhall, and
Richard Mendenhall. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lee & Hope Mendenhall, and a brother,
David Mendenhall.

Funeral services for Steve were held on Saturday, January 10, in Fresno, California.
