Favorite school story:
I was a band geek (I don't think that term existed back then), and actually had braces my senior year and played trumpet on them, for maximum geekdom. I was in band with Cliff Hawkins, Rick Clements, Dan Watts, Reed Neubert, Cory Smith, Lisa Despain, Sandi Lott, Tracey Hughes (he finished high school elsewhere but was a fantastic trumpet player) and other illustrious musicians from the class of '83. I was also a bit of a math geek. I did swim team sophomore year with Cornell Bean, and we went undefeated (see the '81 yearbook for proof), but I quit swim team after that season for grades (geek). At that time I liked The Cars, Billy Joel, The Beatles, The Doors (before it was cool to like The Doors--it definitely wasn't cool then), Men At Work, and dozens of others.
High school had its moments, but I am grateful for the experience and for those who helped me through it. I felt the teachers did a great job, especially Mr. Braithwaite (R.I.P.) and Mr. Bird, and Mrs. Peterson, and I think I liked all of my teachers, Mrs. Steele, Mr. Stone (R.I.P.), Mr. Lindquist, everybody. I liked and respected everyone in our class, even though I did not know many of you.
After MVHS, I went to BYU, graduated in 1990 in civil engineering, then went to law school, graduated and passed the bar in 1993.
