Brett was diagnosed with chronic lymphocytic leukemia in the fall of 2014. In December of 2015, Brett received a stem cell transplant. The transplant wiped out the cancer, but Brett ultimately died from complications from Graft Versus Host Disease. He leaves behind a wife and two young children.
