John James Bouska, 42, passed away January 8, 2003, at his home in Overland Park, KS. John was the son of retired Kansas District Judge James Bouska and clinical social worker Doraen Bouska of Overland Park. The memorial service will be 4 p.m. Saturday, January 11, at Rolling Hills Presbyterian Church, 9300 Nall, Overland Park; inurnment in Belleville Cemetery, Belleville, KS. John and his fraternal twin brother, Jardon, were born on January 25, 1960, in Lawrence, KS. He attended Apache and Tomahawk Elementary Schools, Indian Creek Junior High, and graduated from high school at Shawnee Mission South. He also pursued studies at KU, Pittsburg State University and Johnson County Community College. In school, he excelled at basketball and track. For the last 20 years, John ran his own business, Residential Lawn and Tree. He was a hard worker, always strove to please, and derived great satisfaction from using his artistic abilities to create landscapes for his clients. He enjoyed working with all his vendors and clients and was known for his good humor. He liked working outdoors, taking early morning walks, working out, fixing anything mechanical, and helping anyone in need. He was honest, straightforward and good-hearted. He attended to the daily needs of a disabled friend and unfailingly stopped to help motorists who were broken down. John loved to cook, joke and laugh with friends, and play with his nephews and niece. He was a devoted Chiefs football and KU basketball fan. He listened to country music, dabbled at the drums, and got a kick out of doing an occasional Elvis impression. John was a loving son and brother who will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by his family and friends.
He is survived by his parents; his brother, David Bouska of Overland Park; brother, Jardon Bouska, and sister-inlaw, Shauna Ryan, of Atlanta, GA; sister, Diane Bouska, and brother-in-law, Roland White, of Nashville, TN; aunts, Andrea Bouska, Dolores Lewis, and Janet Grimm; uncle, Marshall Grimm; cousins, Mike Bouska, Joe Bouska, Karen Bouska Driver, Jennifer Moebus, Kirk Lewis, Keith Lewis, Kelly Lewis, and Bryan Lewis; nephews, Tad Bouska and Matt Bouska; and niece, Cecilia Bouska. The last time I remember seeing John was when I was attending college at Pittsburg State University in Pittsburg, Kansas in 1980. He was always joking around. I still remember his red hair and big smile.William Degenhardt
Of all the friends I have been forturnate enough to have had over the years I cannot think of one that matches John's willingness to help me and others out in a time of need. John truly was kind hearted, caring and had a uniquely fun to be around personality. I think about John all the time....Even now.
